Paolo Pirona

(Trieste, 1962 – paolo.pirona@gmail.com)

I started my photographic experience in the darkroom with my father, as a little child. At that time, I was not understanding exactly what was going on or why a picture was better than another one, but I felt a sort of fascination for the magic of the darkroom. Only some years later, in the 90’, when I started travelling on my own, I developed a more serious interest and realized how important is to understand why one wants to take pictures. To improve my skills and awareness, I joined FIAF, the Italian Photographers Association, and studied the Italian and American masters of landscape photography (Basilico, Ghirri, Jodice, Egglestone, Mejerowitz, Friedlander, Shore, etc.).

Since then, my photographic activity remained focused on landscapes and street photography, but I also explore from time to time other subjects connected to my interests, like alpinism and wildlife. I also participated to many group and solo exhibitions in the last thirty years.

I am currently based in Prague, Czech republic and present on Instagram, Behance, Medium and on my site www.paolopirona.art
